Sarah and The Goon Squad

I'm still working on the structure of my story, a major creative writing project that I have undertaken.

One of the things I want to do is get my main characters to bond a little more so that it's clear that they're connected and have something in common. Here are a few ideas for situations to put them in to accomplish that.

• Your characters worked on solving a mystery together.
• One character helped the other learn a skill
• Your characters had a philosophical discussion while riding the bus.

I'm also working on establishing some interesting plot twists and changes to make the story interesting. These are a few ideas to try.

• A minor villain and the main character switch roles.
• A minor protagonist is reimagined as from another planet in a Victorian-like setting.
• The characters live in a Renaissance-like world.

One of the objects that is central to my story is a very old coin. It has magical properties. Here are a few potential descriptions for it.

• This small thick coin is made out of bronze.  On one side it has a picture of the empress and on the other is a picture of a falcon.  Its design is moderately embellished.
• This enormous thin coin is made out of a greenish metal.  On one side it has a picture of the emperor and on the other is a picture of five pine trees.  Its design is moderately embellished.
• This enormous thick coin is made out of gold.  On one side it has a picture of an imperial crest and on the other is a picture of a hand holding stalks of grain.  It is decorated with many embellishments.
